Differences between propane & butane
Based on my experiences with so many different areas customers in the world, i’d like share some info about my product, it is not direct but very important.
Propane’s biggest advantage is a lower boiling temperature, at -42° vs -0.4°C for butane.
Propane and butane have different boiling points — which means the temperature at which it goes from liquid to gas (vapour).
Propane boils at -42°C whereas butane boils at -0.4°C.
This means you have a huge problem if you try to use pure butane when the temperature drops below freezing. Especially in cold winter.
So if carry butane for camping, you could find yourself with no gas for your heater, stove or butane torch and other cooking appliances when it gets cold.
In some areas, LPG suppliers provide a mixture of propane and butane to improve this problem.
This can work well when there are temperatures both below and above freezing.
Therefore, propane is the preferred choice for cold weather climates. Like north American, Russia or Ukraine and some other cold areas.
Even not pure propane, you will notice the percentage of propane in mixture much higher than warm areas.
There’s no absolutely good or bad, remember, know your customer’s area clearly and make proper suggestions.
